Carole
A staple of the "screwball" comedies of the 1930's, Carole Lombard was loved for her off-screen personality as much as for her on-screen talent. As Clark Gable's wife, she was the envy of every woman in America, but died tragically in a plane crash while on a bond drive to support the war effort.
